NSW government invests $5m in Macarthur koala care center to aid bushfire recovery and conservation efforts.

The NSW government will invest $5 million in a koala care center in the Macarthur region and release two koalas, Mack and Gage, back into the bush near the Illawarra. The funding aims to bolster koala rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation efforts after the Black Summer bushfires killed 17% of the state's koala population. Environment Minister Penny Sharpe hopes future generations can see koalas thriving in the wild.
