23-year-old Officer Jordan Wingate of the Oakland Police Department passed away after fighting injuries from a 2018 vehicle collision during a response to a suspicious person call at the Port of Oakland. Wingate began his career as a police cadet in 2013 and was awarded "Rookie of the Year" in 2018. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 3Crosses Church in Castro Valley, open to the public.
