28-year-old Jason Patrick Mikel, a Salem man, was arrested in Illinois on child sex abuse charges stemming from an incident in Salem involving a three-year-old girl. Mikel allegedly abused the child at a store in Salem on April 1st before fleeing to Illinois. The mother reported losing sight of her daughter and finding her with Mikel, who was indicted on charges of first-degree attempted unlawful sexual penetration, first-degree sex abuse, and first-degree attempted kidnapping.
