WMPO receives 100 helmets from NCDOT for low-income families' bicycle safety in 2024.

Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WMPO) received 100 children's bicycle helmets from NCDOT's Bike Helmet Initiative. These helmets will be distributed to low-income families along with bicycle safety education as part of WMPO's outreach efforts in 2024. The helmets help reduce the risk of head injuries by 85%.
