The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee hosts a magical firefly spectacle, where thousands of synchronously flashing fireflies put on a dazzling light show. The display, caused by Photinus carolinus species, occurs in late May-early June. Due to limited access and traffic concerns, a lottery system is used to issue 1,120 vehicle reservations for the event. The lottery registration period is from April 26-29.
