8 migrant children (ages 6-13) were rescued from a sinking raft in the Rio Grande by the US Coast Guard near McAllen, Texas. A potential smuggler jumped overboard, deflated the raft, and swam back to Mexico. The children were unharmed and handed over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for processing. The Coast Guard has been providing support to Customs and Border Protection in search and rescue operations along the river.
