6.9-magnitude earthquake strikes Japan's Bonin Islands, no tsunami warnings issued. The quake, which occurred at a depth of 540 km, was centered in the ocean about 270 km northwest of Ogasawara, the main settlement in the island group. No casualties or significant damage reported, and light shaking was felt in Ogasawara and other parts of the Bonin Islands, as well as in central Tokyo.
