London Mayor Sadiq Khan urges ministers to end "everyday extortion" of unfair service charges for leaseholders. Khan calls for legal powers for leaseholders to withhold service charge payments where justification is not set out in writing. He also wants the government to use the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill to make it easier for leaseholders to challenge unreasonable costs and expand the remit of the housing ombudsman to investigate service charge hikes.
