Google files motion for summary judgment against U.S. government lawsuit accusing it of anticompetitive practices in online advertising.

Google has filed a motion for summary judgment in a U.S. ad tech case, asking a federal court in Virginia to reject a U.S. government lawsuit accusing the company of anticompetitive practices in the online advertising marketplace. The government filed the lawsuit in January 2023, along with eight states, accusing Google of abusing its dominance of the digital advertising business and arguing that it should be forced to sell its ad manager suite. Google's online advertising network, which includes ad manager, brought in 12% of the company's revenue in 2021. Google argues that the Justice Department's case goes "beyond the boundaries of antitrust law" and that it does not prohibit the internet company's conduct at issue.
