Chicago White Sox designate Kevin Pillar for assignment, signing Tommy Pham to replace him.

The Chicago White Sox have designated Kevin Pillar for assignment to make room for veteran outfielder Tommy Pham, who signed a minor-league deal on April 16. Pham, 36, has a .294 batting average in four games at Triple-A Charlotte. Pillar, who had a poor performance in his first season with the White Sox, will be replaced by Pham, who played for the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks last season.
