41-year-old man fatally attacked by his own pit bull in Bronx, NYC. Police responded to apartment building on Simpson Street in Longwood section at 3 a.m. Found man with pit bull biting his throat; officers discharged shots to kill the dog. Victim, dog owner, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he later died. Two police officers also went to hospital due to ringing in their ears.
