35-year-old Liam Ellison, a prolific thief, was jailed for 14 weeks after breaching a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) that banned him from entering any retail premises in Sunderland city centre. Ellison was arrested and charged with violating his CBO after being spotted wandering into The Bridges Shopping Centre on April 20. Ellison's case is part of the Sunderland Altogether Improving Lives (SAIL) partnership, which aims to tackle crime in the city centre by working with the council, businesses, and other partners.
