22-year-old Joshua Alexander Heckathorn has been arrested for breaking into the Gardiner, Reedsport, and Winchester Bay Salmon Trout Enhancement Program hatchery in Oregon. He admitted to trespassing and handling a chemical bottle after destroying several door locks. He allegedly dumped a gallon of bleach into a rearing tank, killing approximately 20,000 smolt Chinook salmon. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife unit are investigating the case.
