38-year-old Elgin man, Victor H. Ayllon, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder of his wife Wendy Ayllon in 2021. Their 4-year-old son led police to the murder scene, where Wendy was found strangled at their home. Ayllon faces 20 to 60 years in prison upon sentencing on June 20th. The murder occurred after an argument about Ayllon's drug addiction and his wife's alleged infidelity.
