Tuvalu introduces leaf-feeding psyllid Heteropsylla cubana to combat invasive weed tamalini.
Tuvalu releases first natural enemy, leaf-feeding psyllid Heteropsylla cubana, to combat invasive weed tamalini (Leucaena leucocephela). The psyllid, native to tropical America, feeds exclusively on Leucaena plants, offering a safer, sustainable alternative to chemical solutions. The project is part of Pacific Regional Invasive Species Management Support Service and is funded by the Global Environment Facility.
