Sir Declan Morgan announces public hearings for some Troubles deaths investigations under ICRIR.

Sir Declan Morgan, Chief Commissioner of the Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery, said that public hearings will be necessary to test evidence in some Troubles deaths investigations. The ICRIR, established by the UK government's Legacy Act, will take over responsibility for hundreds of unresolved Troubles cases. The Commission plans to offer victims' families the same opportunities as exist through the current legacy inquests plan.
