Queensland to introduce new law making it a criminal offence to damage emergency vehicles with penalties up to 14 years imprisonment, following a rise in ramming incidents targeting police vehicles. The proposed legislation aims to protect frontline emergency workers and hold those recklessly putting lives at risk accountable. Similar offences have already been introduced in other Australian states.
