Qatar's Minister of Environment launched a cleanup and rehabilitation campaign at Fuwairit Beach for the 2024 sea turtle nesting season, collaborating with Qatar Petroleum and Qatar University.
Qatar's Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, launched a cleanup and rehabilitation campaign at Fuwairit Beach to mark the start of the 2024 sea turtle nesting season. The project, in collaboration with Qatar Petroleum and Qatar University, has released over 50,000 baby turtles into the marine environment since 2003. Dr. Al Subaie also announced that Qatar is nearing the completion of its biodiversity database, which aims to preserve biodiversity data and information and create ecosystem maps to identify important sites for biodiversity.
