Eskom improves winter load shedding to Stage 2, based on recovery initiatives and plans to reduce unplanned losses.

Eskom, South Africa's state-owned electricity utility, expects to limit winter load shedding to Stage 2, improving from last year's Stage 8 warning. This progress is due to recovery initiatives, such as a 20% decrease in unplanned generator trips and a 10% rise in power station availability. The CEO plans a demand-side energy savings campaign in May and aims to further reduce unplanned losses by 1.7GW.
