China is expected to become the first nation to bring Martian soil back to Earth in an ambitious science and engineering endeavor, according to top space scientist Wu Weiren. China plans to collect Martian samples and bring them back around 2030 via the historic mission named Tianwen 3, the third in China's interplanetary exploration schedule. Wu noted that China has begun setting up the world's first Martian sample laboratory.
