The CBI and NSG searched the residence of a relative of suspended Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district, Kolkata. The CBI recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, leading to the involvement of NSG commandos. The commandos arrived with a specialized explosive-detection robot, and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) blocked all entrance and exit points to the house. The seizure included 12 firearms, including foreign-made pistols, and explosives found in boxes. The CBI is investigating incidents of sexual assault and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali led by Sheikh and his associates.
