Former SNC-Lavalin executive Normand Morin sentenced to 3.5 years for $2.23M bribery in $128M Montreal bridge repair contract.

A former SNC-Lavalin executive, Normand Morin, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for his involvement in a bribery scheme concerning a $128 million bridge repair contract in Montreal. SNC-Lavalin executives paid $2.23 million in bribes to secure the contract to repair the Jacques-Cartier Bridge deck in the early 2000s. Michel Fournier, a former CEO of the Federal Bridge Corp., was also sentenced to five and a half years in prison and has since received full parole for his involvement in the bribery scheme. SNC-Lavalin agreed in 2022 to pay Quebec nearly $30 million to settle criminal bribery charges related to the bridge project.
