Zimbabwe is set to establish a national drug elimination agency to tackle rising substance abuse issues in the country. The government has approved the principles for enacting the Zimbabwe Drug and Substance Agency Bill, paving the way for the creation of a specialized drug and substance elimination agency. The agency will be responsible for enforcing laws related to drug and substance trafficking, use, and abuse, as well as coordinating efforts of other support services. Since January 2024, over 6,000 people have been arrested in Zimbabwe for drug and substance abuse-related offenses.
