US firm Lithia Motors, which acquired Pendragon's UK motor and leasing businesses, plans to close 16 CarStore sites and cut 250 jobs. The remaining four CarStore sites will be kept open and refranchised, while seven CarStore pods will become Evans Halshaw Direct sites. The closures follow the acquisition of Pendragon's dealer and fleet business by Lithia, which also owns Jardine dealerships in the UK.
