Taranaki, once home to over 1,000 international students, saw a drop to under 500 due to pandemic impacts. As international education recovers, Te Puna Umaga Venture Taranaki hosts two delegations for networking and promoting the region. Pre-pandemic, international students contributed $50m to the economy and supported 330 jobs. The first delegation included eight Japanese high school teachers and staff from Air NZ and Education New Zealand.
