New Zealand Food Safety concludes rat foot in prepackaged garlic bread originated from home, not supply chain.
New Zealand Food Safety has concluded its investigation into a rat foot found in a prepackaged garlic bread, determining that the foot was raw and did not originate from the commercial food supply chain. The complainant confirmed that the bread was cooked at home before serving. The investigation cleared the manufacturer, distributor, distribution center, and retailer as possible sources of the foot, identifying the home as the most likely source. No evidence of rodent activity was found in the production, transportation, and storage facilities.
