Mount Sinai researchers have published the first study using single-cell analysis to reveal pathophysiological mechanisms of perianal fistulae, a common complication of Crohn's disease. This study, published in Med on April 24, identifies key pathways underlying the disease and is the first to apply single-cell transcriptomics of perianal fistulous tracts. The research team also recruited a diverse study cohort including Black patients with the chronic condition.
