The COVID-19 pandemic led to "modest" delays in developmental milestones for infants and children aged 5 years and younger, according to a study led by Johns Hopkins Children's Center. Using data from over 50,000 children, researchers found small decreases in communication, problem-solving, and personal-social skills, but no changes in fine or gross motor skills. The study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, evaluated possible links between pandemic disruptions and everyday life, and changes in developmental milestone screening scores.
