California hospitals are suing Anthem Blue Cross, accusing the insurer of slow approvals that delay patient care and block beds for new patients. The California Hospital Association alleges Anthem's delays cost hospitals $3 billion annually on unnecessary hospitalizations. The association filed a complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming Anthem is violating the state's long-standing patient protection laws.
