The American Petroleum Institute (API) reported a decrease of 3.23 million barrels in U.S. crude oil inventories for the week ending April 19, while analysts expected an increase of 1.8 million barrels. The previous week saw an increase of 4.09 million barrels. Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for June delivery increased 1.46 dollars, or 1.78%, to settle at 83.36 U.S. dollars a barrel, and Brent crude for June delivery increased by 1.42 dollars, or 1.63%, to settle at 88.42 dollars a barrel.
