87-year-old civil rights activist William 'Bill' Strickland, known for his work alongside Malcolm X, passed away on April 10. Strickland was active in the civil rights movement since high school, inspired by Richard Wright and James Baldwin. He co-founded the Institute of the Black World and taught political science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for 40 years, where he dedicated 60 years of his life to advancing civil rights, human rights, and political power for African Diaspora communities.
