Vietnam aims to grow "high quality, low emission rice" on 1 million hectares of farmland by 2030 by adopting new techniques such as alternate wetting and drying (AWD) and drone-based fertilization. These methods, which reduce water and labor requirements, could lower methane emissions from rice paddies, which contribute 8% of all human-made methane, and increase farmers' profits by over $600 million.
