Shetland's first whisky distillery, Lerwick Distillery, is set to open later this year, becoming the most northerly whisky distillery in the UK. Founders Martin Watt and Calum Miller began planning the project over a decade ago and, after finding a site in 2022, have been preparing for the distillery's opening. Lerwick Distillery will eventually open to visitors, boosting tourism in the Scottish archipelago.
