Rear Admiral Peter Brady, Jamaica's Maritime Authority Director-General since 1999, has retired. Under his leadership, Jamaica developed as a shipping hub and implemented the ISPS Code. Brady chaired the IMO's Standards of Training and Watchkeeping Sub-Committee and was a visiting lecturer at the World Maritime University. His successor, Bertrand Smith, takes over as Director of Legal Affairs after serving in that role.
