Dongguan, a manufacturing powerhouse in Guangdong, China, reported a 0.6% growth in foreign trade during Q1, totaling 289.13 billion yuan ($40.7bn). Exports of integrated circuits and flat panel display modules increased by 5.2% and 24.2%, respectively, while 80% of imports were mechanical and electrical products, with imported integrated circuits rising by 7.5%. The city's trade with emerging markets such as India, Brazil, and South Africa grew rapidly by 8.9%, 15.6%, and 45.8% respectively.
