Police and Coastguard are searching for a missing person on the Waitaki River near Waimate, after receiving a report at 7pm on Monday that a person was missing from a boat. Emergency services have been conducting an ongoing search but have not yet located the individual. The Waitaki River, a large braided river in the South Island, has experienced several people falling overboard and being swept down in recent years.
