Parliamentary Under-Secretary Jenny Marcroft will represent NZ in Anzac Day commemorations in New Caledonia and open a new science facility in Nouméa, honoring the connections between NZ, New Caledonia, and France. Thousands of NZ military personnel were in New Caledonia during WWII, with Bourail as the HQ of the 3rd NZ Division. Ms Marcroft will attend services at Place Bir Hakeim and the New Zealand War Cemetery in Bourail.
