Nigeria's power grid collapses due to insufficient gas supply, inadequate generation, vandalism, and tripping of critical infrastructure.

Nigeria's Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has identified insufficient gas supply, inadequate generation availability, lack of operating/spinning reserve, improper coordination of plants and pipelines, vandalism, and tripping of critical infrastructure lines as primary factors causing persistent collapse of the nation's power grid. The company stated that to achieve a reliable power system, adequate generation, demand response, and network capacity are needed, along with operational decisions that keep supply and demand balanced.
