83 Manitobans received kidney transplants in 2023, breaking the province's previous record of 77 set in 2017. The record-breaking year is attributed to increased awareness of the province's organ donor registry and improved care at Health Sciences Centre's Transplant Wellness Centre. Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara encouraged Manitobans to register as organ and tissue donors to help save lives.
