Kroger agrees to pay $47.5M to Washington State for opioid crisis litigation.
Kroger, the parent company of Fred Meyer, has agreed to pay $47.5 million to Washington State to combat the fentanyl crisis.
The settlement comes after Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a lawsuit against Kroger in December 2022 for allegedly filling opioid orders without adequately investigating "red flags" of fraud or overprescribing.
The funds will be distributed to the state, cities, and counties to address opioid addiction and prevention programs.
