Italian archaeologist Graziano Ranocchia claims to have found the exact location of Plato's grave in Athens after deciphering Herculaneum papyri, a collection of ancient scrolls preserved by the Mount Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD. The papyri contained new words and differently read words in a papyrus on the history of the Academy by Philodemus of Gadara, revealing that Plato was buried in the Academy named after him in Athens, near the Temple of the Muses.
