3 friends drowned in a boating trip in northwest Tasmania due to drinking, drug use, and lack of safety measures, coroner says.

Three friends who drowned on a daytime boating trip in northwest Tasmania were found to have been drinking and taking drugs, and should not have been on the water, according to a coroner. Coroner Simon Cooper stated that the combination of alcohol, illicit drugs, and lack of basic safety precautions led to the deaths of Isaiah Dixon, Bree-Anna Thomas, and Thomas Courto, who were not wearing life jackets. Their boat has never been recovered.
