European Parliament adopts "right to repair" directive, requiring manufacturers to offer cost-effective repair services and extend warranties.

The European Parliament has adopted a "right to repair" directive, which aims to make repairing goods easier and more appealing for consumers. Manufacturers will be required to provide timely and cost-effective repair services, extend legal warranties of repaired goods by a year, and ensure common household items are repairable. The directive will bring €4.8bn in growth and investment within the EU and complements new EU rules on Ecodesign and Empowering consumers for the green transition.
