Yoko Ono receives the Edward MacDowell Medal from MacDowell artist residency program.
Yoko Ono, the groundbreaking artist, filmmaker, and musician, has been awarded the lifetime achievement prize, the Edward MacDowell Medal, by MacDowell, one of the country's leading artist residency programs. Previous recipients of the award include Stephen Sondheim and Toni Morrison. MacDowell board chair Nell Painter praised Ono's work as "enduringly fresh and pertinent, her uniquely powerful oeuvre speaks to our own times."
