40-year-old Indian-origin married man M. Krishnan was sentenced to 20 years' jail in Singapore for beating his girlfriend, Mallika Begum Rahamansa Abdul Rahman, to death. He had a history of abusing Mallika over trivial matters, but the violence escalated when she admitted to having relationships with other men. The fatal assault took place on January 17, 2019, and Krishnan was sentenced to 20 years' jail after pleading guilty to a reduced charge of culpable homicide.
