Topeka police engaged in a shootout with armed carjacking suspect Terrell D. Hayes-Osby.

Topeka police responded to an armed carjacking and located a suspect. When officers tried to make contact, the suspect fled on foot and fired at police, prompting four officers to return fire. The suspect, Terrell D. Hayes-Osby, was wounded and transported to a local hospital. Hayes-Osby has a criminal history, including 2nd degree murder, aggravated battery, and theft. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
