Surfside Beach firefighters and Horry County Fire Rescue saved an ice cream shop, Sugar Kingdom Candy Store, from further damage after responding to a fire caused by a faulty refrigerant unit motor. Upon arrival, crews shut off the power and used a ventilation fan to clear the store. After the situation was under control, firefighters helped move the store's ice cream to freezers to limit product loss.
