1st reported Bay Area dead whale found off Alameda's Crown Beach, to be towed to Angel Island for necropsy.

A dead whale, the first reported in the Bay Area this year, was found off the coast of Alameda's Crown Beach on Saturday. Wildlife officials are working to remove the carcass and plan to tow it to Angel Island State Park for a necropsy to determine the cause of death. The whale, a young adult female gray whale, was initially stuck in mud or a sandbar but later dislodged and began floating freely in the tide.
