South32's Groote Eylandt manganese mine in Australia faces a year-long suspension of exports following damage by Tropical Cyclone Megan in March. The cyclone caused record rainfall and powerful winds, flooding pits and destroying key infrastructure. Engineering studies are underway to determine the cost of repairs and the final schedule for restoration. South32 expects export sales to resume between January and March 2025.
