Scottish Committee supports buffer zones in law around abortion clinics.
A proposed Scottish law to create buffer zones around abortion clinics has been backed by a Holyrood committee. The Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Bill, introduced by Scottish Green MSP Gillian Mackay, aims to prohibit protests within 200 metres of clinics, with fines for serious breaches. The Health, Social Care and Sport Committee unanimously agreed to the general principles of the bill, which seeks to ensure women can access healthcare services without intimidation.
